Open the requested book to use saved answers. Nothing is shared while it is locked.
Your answer saves privately before you choose whether to send it.
Your information.
Your notes, files and saved answers, together in one private book.
Open this backup.
Your encrypted backup is ready. Choose the recovery file that belongs to it. Nothing is replaced until the backup opens successfully.
Keep the key to your book.
Your browser has offered a recovery file. Save it somewhere safe: it is the key you will use to open this book again. It cannot be reset for you.
Start your private library.
Your browser creates a new encryption key for you. Save its recovery file, then start adding your information. You do not need an existing key to begin.
Already have a backup?
Choose your encrypted backup, then its matching recovery file.
Your information is inside.
Open it with the recovery file you saved when you created this book. That file is your key; it stays on this device.
Look for a file named passport-recovery.json. Your saved information will appear after you unlock.
Why do I need this file?
The host stores your book encrypted and cannot open it or reset its key. Use the recovery file for this book. An encrypted backup alone cannot unlock it.

How your information stays private
Your information is encrypted in this isolated page before it is saved. The host stores ciphertext, vault scope and storage metadata. Your recovery key and unlocked information stay inside this page. A compromised device, browser extension or malicious software update can read unlocked information. This software has not been independently security-audited. Business team sharing is not included.
Keep your recovery file secure: it contains the key to your book. The host cannot reset it. To restore after storage loss, you need both your encrypted backup and recovery file. Removing a vault cannot recall downloaded copies or erase operator backups.
