# Mergerz

Mergerz is a PySide6-based desktop application for PDF/document workflows.

## Development / test mode

From the cooking directory, run:

```bash
python test_caller.py
```

The test launcher sets `MERGERZ_TEST_MODE=1` before importing the application.
In test mode:

- `icons/` is read from the current working directory.
- `fonts/` is read from the current working directory.
- `temp/` remains in the current working directory.
- `static/` remains in the current working directory.

This is intentional so the development copy can work with the editable `icons/`
and `fonts/` folders while all generated/workspace data stays in the user's
current directory.

## Build the wheel

Install the build frontend:

```bash
python -m pip install --upgrade build
```

Then, from this directory:

```bash
python -m build
```

The resulting wheel and source distribution are written to `dist/`.

## Installed application

After installation:

```bash
python -m pip install mergerz
```

run the application with:

```bash
mergerz
```

The installed application uses the package-bundled `mergerz/icons/` and
`mergerz/fonts/` resources. It does not create `icons/` or `fonts/` in the
user's current working directory.

The application continues to use the user's current working directory for
runtime workspace folders such as `temp/` and `static/`.
