EXAMINATION: CHEST (PORTABLE AP)

INDICATION: ___ year old woman with respiratory failure // interval change
s/p intubation interval change s/p intubation

COMPARISON: Chest radiographs ___ through ___ at 4:55 a.m.

IMPRESSION:

No pneumothorax.
Heart is normal size.
Moderate right pleural effusion is slightly smaller.
ET tube and right jugular line are in standard placements and a nasogastric tube passes to the low stomach.
The asymmetric thickening of the left apical pleural margin, due to peripheral consolidation and the adjacent cavitation are unchanged.
Heterogeneous opacification of both lungs, sparing only the left midlung, has worsened, probably a combination of pulmonary edema and disseminated infection.
