SINGLE FRONTAL VIEW OF THE CHEST

REASON FOR EXAM: Hematocrit drop, intubated for airway protection, COPD.

Comparison is made with prior study performed eight hours earlier.

ET tube is in standard position. There is no pneumothorax. Mild pulmonary edema has improved. Moderate cardiomegaly is unchanged. Widened mediastinum is unchanged. There has been interval continuous progression of bibasilar opacities. On the right, these could be atelectasis. On the right, these could be part of the pulmonary edema. On the right, pneumonia cannot be totally excluded. On the left, these are consistent with atelectasis and pleural effusion.
