# Meadow Authoring

Meadow Authoring provides a browser interface for writing, checking, and running
Meadow workflows, with a single command for execution, inspection and maintenance.

Use Python 3.13.3 with Node 24 or later and npm available on macOS or Windows.

```sh
python -m pip install meadow-authoring
meadow-authoring
```

Open http://127.0.0.1:8000. Use `--host` and `--port` to change the listening
address. Initial startup installs the locked npm dependencies, including the
Wasm compiler. Every startup regenerates and builds the application.

Workflow execution needs Git and the tools and credentials for the selected
provider. The Bridge provider uses a compatible Copilot language server and
Copilot authentication. OpenCode execution requires OpenCode; container execution
requires Podman and a compatible image. Those tools, images, and credentials are
not included in this distribution.

Install into a dedicated Python environment; do not install a separate
`meadow-runtime` distribution alongside this bundle.
Initial setup initializes absent settings. Ordinary launches, repairs and upgrades
preserve existing settings, templates and recorded work. Incompatible or damaged
settings fail explicitly; an upgrade does not replace them.

`meadow-authoring` is the single installed application command. It also accepts
workflow execution arguments and tool selectors such as `--sequence`, `--dialog`
and `--team-config`; use `--help` or a tool selector followed by `--help`.
`--setup` prepares the application without opening its interface.

All application reset tiers preserve recoverable backups and publish packaged
settings immediately. `--reset defaults` keeps work and restores settings;
`--reset environment` also rebuilds the local environment on the next launch;
`--reset all` archives managed work and starts with empty active stores. Project
repositories, credentials, browser storage, external outputs and older backups
remain protected. Stop programs using the selected resources before resetting.
Use the reported reset identifier with `--recover RESET_ID` to inspect an
interrupted reset and `--recover RESET_ID --rollback` to request restoration.
