# STEM Agent Free

STEM Agent gives the coding agent you already use one complete scientific
toolkit, checked workflows, and a simple way to add specialized tools later.
The Free Alpha installs 40 standard scientific components and keeps calculated
results separate from independent verifier receipts.

STEM Agent is free to download and use. It remains proprietary software and is
not open source.

## Install

You need Python 3.12 and `pipx`. Then run:

```text
pipx run stem-agent
```

The installer verifies its embedded release bundle, creates separate worker
and verifier environments, checks all 40 components, runs a verified demo, and
creates a tested connection for each of the 15 coding agents listed on the
Exergy Lab home page.

Install once for each operating-system user account and restart agent sessions
that were already open. Every newly opened agent session starts its own local
STEM Agent process, so multiple sessions can use the same installation at the
same time from the same or different project folders. STEM Agent rejects two
simultaneous runs that claim the same declared output file.

Running the same install command again checks the installed release and
refreshes detected agent connections without downloading another copy of the
scientific environment.

Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot CLI, Gemini CLI, Qwen Code, Prime-Agent,
Grok Build, Kimi Code, and Hermes Agent connect automatically when their CLI is
installed. OpenCode, DeepSeek Harness, MiniMax Code, and NAC receive exact
native configuration files without overwriting existing settings. Apodex Agent
Harness and Exoharness use the same installed tools through the stable local
command line because their current releases do not expose MCP clients.

The release workflow tests Windows 11 x64, Ubuntu 24.04 x64, and macOS 15 on
both Apple Silicon and Intel before the package can publish.

No telemetry is sent. Use the local support and feedback commands to create an
inspectable, privacy-safe report that you choose whether to share.
